The 10th Hong Kong International Spring Lighting Exhibition will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from April 6th to 9th, and is expected to attract over 1350 exhibitors from 13 countries and regions. It will also attract companies from Canada, India, Macau, and Malaysia to participate for the first time. In response to the trend of industrial development, the organizers have added four exhibition areas this year, including "Plant Lighting", "Home Lighting", "Professional Lighting", and "Urban and Architectural Lighting", further enhancing the exhibition efficiency of both buyers and sellers.
The industry is generally optimistic about the prospects of smart lighting and home lighting
With the maturation of the Internet of Things, smart cities have become a global trend, and the development direction based on smart lighting has also brought new opportunities for the LED industry. The Spring Lantern Exhibition established a new exhibition area for "Smart Lighting and Lighting Solutions" in 2017, and this year it remains the main focus of the exhibition, showcasing how smart lighting systems, remote controls, accessories, and lighting fixtures are actually applied to people's daily lives.
A survey conducted by the Hong Kong Trade and Development Council at the end of 2017 pointed out that the lighting sector with the greatest growth potential in 2018 was home lighting (29% of respondents chose), and more than half of the surveyed industry insiders (55%) believed that indoor home lighting would be the most beneficial category in response to the demand for replacing old lighting products with LED lamps. As for their views on future development, the vast majority of respondents (93%) believe that smart technology will contribute to the development of the lighting industry in the next two years.
According to the latest research by LEDinside, residential lighting accounted for approximately 23% of the global smart lighting market in 2017, and is expected to increase to 31% in 2020. In the coming years, smart lighting and smart home will develop together and become the fastest growing application field.
